As part of Corporate Social Responsibility initiative Meyer Organics has undertaken the GO FOLIC campaign in collaboration with Spina Bifida Foundation intending to make a positive difference in society. In India there is lack of awareness on Spina bifida & hence Meyer has taken the initiative to bring about awareness of this grave condition for the FIRST TIME IN INDIA.
The GO FOLIC campaign will help spread this much needed awareness by undertaking activities and campaigns in both cities and villages across the length and breadth of India. GO FOLIC will liaise with State Governments, the Union Health Ministry and WHO India and will undertake a series of activities throughout the next few years.
Spina Bifida
Spina bifida is a type of birth defect called a neural tube defect. It occurs when the bones of the spine (vertebrae) don't form properly around baby's spinal cord.

WORLD BIRTH DEFECT DAY REPORT By SBF
The Spina Bifida Foundation (SBF) in association with the Go Folic Campaign organized an event on World Birth Defects Day, March 3, 2020. The event began at 3.30 pm at Nehru center, Worli. The event was open for doctors, individuals with birth defects and their parents and the other stakeholders. Out of the total 72 registrations, near to 40 were doctors. Renowned Marathi film Actor Ms. Varsha Usangaokar was a special invitee at the event. |

YOUNG ACHIEVER – KHUSHBU GANATRA
Khushbu Ganatra, a Spina Bifida patient has been actively playing multiple sports for past three years and has represented Maharashtra for Wheelchair Tennis. Last 2 years she has been semifinalist and runner up in doubles as well. This year she participated for the Tabebuia Open organized by All India Tennis Association. The match was at Bangalore. We are so happy to have contributed to make her achieve her goals. |
28TH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON SPINA BIFIDA HELD FOR FIRST TIME IN ASIA
The Spina Bifida Foundation of India & the International Federation of SB, has organized the three-day long 28th Annual International Conference on preventive, antenatal and management aspects of birth defects. The conference was organised in Asia for the first time. Bollywood actress Raveena Tandon was the chief guest of the inaugural ceremony. WORLD BIRTH DEFECT DAY ACTIVITY
10 million babies worldwide are born each year with a serious birth defect. In India birth defects are a major public health problem because they account for 10% of childhood mortality rate. Some major birth defects are preventable; and many are completely treatable. Thus awareness regarding prevention and proper care of birth defects is crucial. 3rd March is marked as a World Birth Defect Day worldwide. SPINA BIFIDA DOCTOR ENROLLMENT ACTIVITY
Meyer Vitabiotics in joint association with Spina Bifida Foundation has started a social initiative to create a widespread awareness about the importance of Folic Acid during peri-conception and throughout pregnancy. CME for Doctors on Birth Defects Prevention at Kankavali, Sindhudurg
On 16th & 17th of April 2016 a press conference & CME for Doctors on Birth Defects Prevention was organized at Kankavali, Sindhudurg respectively under the Go Folic campaign. The objective of the same was to initiate an awareness drive on Birth Defects for Doctors in interiors & rural areas to announce the activities planned under the Go Folic campaign.
