GO FOLIC Campaign Launched on Thursday, 27th August 2015

 

   

 

Spina Bifida Foundation (SBF) and Meyer Organics Pvt. Ltd., in a first of its kind initiative launched a national campaign aimed at increasing awareness of Spina Bifida across the country, which will include a series of on-ground initiatives and multi-media. Spina Bifida, a very common but relatively lesser known birth defect leaves a devastating effect of the child and entire patient’s family. Moreover, it remains highest in India with almost 8 of 1000 live births, when compared with the rest of the world.

The GO FOLIC campaign will help spread this much needed awareness by undertaking activities and campaigns in both cities and villages across the length and breadth of India. GO FOLIC will liaise with State Governments, the Union Health Ministry and WHO India and will undertake a series of activities throughout the next few years.

Speech by Dr. Santosh Karmarkar

Dr. Santosh Karmarkar is the Founder Trustee of Spina Bifida Foundation.

The seeds of SBF were sown almost 15 years ago by Dr. Santosh karmarkar & his colleagues from Wadia Children’s hospital when they encounterd children with spina bifida and formed an informal support group to help such kids and their families. The group slowly expanded with more families and doctors supporting the cause.
