Meyer Vitabiotics in association with Spina Bifida Foundation organized a SWIM FOR A CAUSE campaign at Bharat Ratna Rajiv Gandhi Sports Complex, Dharavi, Sion, and Mumbai.

The main aim of the event was to raise awareness about the Birth Defects- especially Neural Tube Defects (NTDs) in India. The event was attended by Dr. Santosh Karmarkar, leading Consultant Pediatric Surgeon & Pediatric Urologist, Lilavati hospital, Mr. Rohit Shelatkar, Vitabiotics Director and VP-U.K.,Mrs.Varsha Usgaonkar, veteran actress and Mrs.Uma Kalekar, Director Meyer organics.

SWIM FOR A CAUSE campaign is a very noble initiative and there were active participation from children and doctors of all ages. The event was made even more recognizable by active participation of Spina Bifida patients including Paralympic gold medal winners Parth Hendre & Merlyn D’mello. They had tremendous energy and enthusiasm in them, and the people could feel the positive vibes from them. They showed the true fighting spirit of life by overcoming every obstacle that came their way.

Swimming is a very good exercise and the event emphasized to incorporate sports –especially swimming- in their regular daily schedules and also make it an integral part of their rehabilitation. There were Certificates that were distributed to all the participants as a token of appreciation. Here are a few glimpses of the event.
